Arqus Design Supports OZHarvest

Arqus Design  joined the yellow army of volunteers in “Cooking for a Cause”.  Along with the fabulous team from OzHarvest Gold Coast and corporate guests, we assisted in the preparation of 80 meals for people in the local community. What a privilege to be working beside this amazing organization whose mission is to rescue food from commercial outlets and deliver to charities needing support. OzHarvest rescues quality surplus food each week from supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, and delivers this food directly to charities that support those in need. The Cooking for a Cause program allows corporate teams to spend a few hours in the OzHarvest kitchen alongside professional chefs and transforming rescued food into quality meals whilst learning some cooking practical skills along the way. This food is then delivered to those who are less fortunate and they get a chance to have a home cooked meal with nutritional content.

The Cooking for a Cause initiative is a great way to get your team out of the office and bonding in the kitchen. The participants are divided up into groups and allocated fresh produce and a recipe for a meal that you are responsible for. At the end of the session, we had cooked up enough food to feed 80 people. The Cooking for a Cause initiative was designed as a unique corporate volunteering for companies looking for a corporate team building activity and gives back to people in need. In addition to bonding over the creation of delicious dishes, your team will take away practical kitchen skills and knowledge that they have made a real difference allowing those less fortunate to enjoy nourishing meals made with love. Another amazing initiative by OzHarvest is the Food App which assists the community in locating surplus food where the vans can’t reach so that food can reach those in need rather than being wasted.
